*** Special note about Mom’s character ***
From Jim Schuett
Missing Mom goes without saying. We miss her everyday… (OK, I said it).
We all know that Mom was outspoken, and sometimes quite blunt.
There was also a quiet, humble, giving side of Mom as well, and most of us have been blessed by Mom’s generosity. She almost never spoke of this side of herself, and only when one on one with closest family members.
Whenever someone was in need, Mom gave money, rooms in her home, food, and much more to many/most of us. I also knew that she donated to some charities through the mail.
Since she passed, Sue and I have gotten her mail, and our eyes were opened to the extent of Mom’s giving nature. Every day she would receive invitations from charities asking for another donation.
I just though this was worth mentioning, as Mom rarely did.
In just 2 days recently, she received requests from the following:
- Salvation Army
- American Bible Society (Bibles for the Military currently serving)
- The Mouth & Foot Painting Artists (artists with no arms)
- Boys Town
- Disabled Veterans National Foundation
- Easter Seals
- Blinded Veterans Association
- Homeless for the Holidays
- and a few more!
